r/guns – Learning how to shoot with a dot

This was a stage from a local match this weekend. I shot 21 alphas and 6 charlies here, which I’m happy with, but could have been a little more aggressive with shooting on the move to save some time.

This is the first time I have shot this gun (or any gun with a dot) all year so far. Previously I have shot iron sights almost exclusively, so I’m pretty new to the dot. I did play around with this gun about a year ago, but not extensively. Needless to say, it’s a lot of fun changing things up.

If you aren’t familiar with practical shooting, the general idea is shoot everything from within the shooting area as quickly and accurately as possible. Paper gets best 2 hits scored, steel must fall. Your score is points tallied up divided by time. It’s a great way environment for improvement.
