r/weapons – My nearly numbers matching 1941 Luger crudely transformed to .22lr

This is all I do know in regards to the historical past of this gun. My grandfathers subsequent door neighbor within the 50s and 60s was a WWII vet and gunsmith when my grandfather knew him. They traded weapons with one another which is how he ended up with this one. The gunsmith someday within the 50 or 60s had crudely transformed it to .22lr. He machined a brand new barrel and reused the oem entrance sight. He modified the bolt for a rum hearth firing pin and machined a brand new extractor and sleeved the journal. The barrel, extractor, and journal are the one three elements with out matching serial numbers. The wood grips are even serialized and are the unique matching quantity set. It fires, however gained through a win’t cycle rounds as a result of just a few issues. I don’t intend to promote it for sentimental causes, however I’m engaged on getting this factor firing in its present caliber.
