Take the gas tube off and allow the lever to rotate to where it has the least amount of metal behind it. Then gently massage it with a mallet until it bends enough to give you the resistance you want.
Also, I don’t get why it’s called a gas tube. It doesn’t constrain the gas at all. All it really does is keep the piston aligned with the gas block.
